Miami Community Charter School’s Environmental Science Program gives students the opportunity to explore agriculture, natural resources, environmental conservation, and the technologies used to protect and manage our environment.
Through classroom instruction, laboratory activities, and hands-on projects, students investigate the relationship between people and the natural world while developing practical scientific, technical, and workplace skills.

Agriscience Foundations 1

Grade 9 – Year 1
Students are introduced to the scientific principles of agriculture, food, and natural-resource systems. The course explores plant and animal science, environmental resources, biotechnology, agribusiness, and agricultural technologies.
Students also develop foundational skills in scientific investigation, safety, communication, leadership, and career preparation.
Agritechnology 1

Grade 10 – Year 2
Students build upon their foundational knowledge while exploring agricultural technology and its applications.
Coursework may include plant production, animal systems, soil and water resources, environmental management, agricultural equipment, technology, and workplace practices.

Grade 11 – Year 3
Students continue developing technical and problem-solving skills through more advanced agriscience concepts and applications.
Students may investigate natural-resource systems, agricultural production, environmental challenges, emerging technologies, and the role of science in creating sustainable solutions.
Advanced Concepts of Agriscience

Grade 12 – Year 4
This advanced course allows students to apply the knowledge and technical skills developed throughout the program.
Students may complete in-depth investigations, analyze real-world environmental or agricultural issues, conduct research, and develop projects that demonstrate scientific reasoning, communication, leadership, and career readiness.
Hands-On Learning
Students may have opportunities to:
- Conduct scientific investigations and experiments
- Examine soil, water, plants, and ecosystems
- Collect and analyze environmental data
- Study conservation and sustainability practices
- Explore agricultural tools and technologies

This industry-recognized certification measures students’ understanding of topics related to:

Completing the courses does not automatically earn the certification. Students must meet the applicable program requirements and pass the official certification examination.

The Environmental Science Program encourages students to understand the natural world and consider how science, agriculture, and technology can work together to address environmental challenges.

We have once again been selected as an Everglades Champion School SY 25- 26; this time for our Middle School program.
Our Middle School Environmental Science students worked hard and demonstrated a strong commitment in accomplishing this important achievement.
We can now officially recognize both our Middle School and High School as champion schools.
