We were sent an invitation by the Miami New Drama to come and perform in our school. We saw this as a great experience for students to be exposed to a cultural enrichment.
The Division of Academics, Department of Visual & Performing Arts is informing all senior high school principals, assistant principals, and activities directors about an opportunity to have GableStage and/or Miami New Drama perform a dramatic play in your school.
This is a description of the play:
“The Caucasian Chalk Circle” was written by German playwright Bertold Brecht during his American exile (1941-1944). It is based on an ancient Chinese play which Brecht adapted into parable form, changing the setting to Soviet Georgia near the end of World War II. The play is directed by Peter Romano, a Syrian-American musician and teaching artist. This play is considered one of the most representative pieces of the “epic theater.”
The students and some faculty members were engaged and participated. May this be one of many.
